The Replacement Car

I had a company car. It was very basic — practical, but nothing special. I often thought about how I wished it felt more comfortable, like the cars driven by directors. One morning on my way to work, I imagined it clearly. A car with a soft armrest. Comfortable seats. A thicker steering wheel. I didn’t just think about it — I felt it in my body, as if I was already driving that car. At a traffic light, my car suddenly started shaking and vibrating strangely. I barely made it to work. I called the vehicle service, and they said they would take the car in for repairs. At the end of the workday, they brought me a replacement car. It was exactly like the one I had imagined. They told me they had run out of their usual replacement cars. And on the way home, I was truly driving in the comfort I had wanted.
