Our wedding took place exactly where I had once imagined it.
My future husband and I decided to get married in Prague.
From the very beginning, I imagined our wedding at the Old Town Hall, by the Astronomical Clock.
We contacted a wedding agency and scheduled the ceremony just two months ahead.
Two days before our flight, we called to confirm everything.
I remember saying how happy I was that our wedding would be at the Old Town Hall — how it had always been our dream.
There was a pause.
The agent calmly said:
“Your ceremony isn’t at the Old Town Hall. It’s outside the city, in a small village.”
I was shocked.
She explained that weddings at the Old Town Hall must be booked at least six months in advance. I honestly didn’t know that. I had assumed that weddings in Prague simply happened there.
Without thinking, I said:
“I see our wedding at the Old Town Hall.”
The agent laughed gently and said it should have been planned much earlier. Then she added that she was going to confirm our registration the next day — and that I could call her again.
I waited.
When I called the next day, her voice had changed.
She told me that in her twenty years of experience, she had never seen anyone cancel a wedding at the Old Town Hall.
But someone had.
And that time was now ours.
We flew to Prague happy and in disbelief.
Our wedding took place exactly where I had once imagined it.
It was a beautiful day — one I will never forget.
Because sometimes, when you want something with your whole heart, reality quietly makes room.
